ArtsECO Intern

During my time at UWM, I completed two ArtsECO internships. The first was with the Haggerty Museum of Art where I helped to write and implement Art Across Curriculum lesson plans and art in context pages, worked with museum outreach programs, and researched content related to artists in the museum's permanent collection. The second was with Elm Creative Arts Elementary School where I collaborated to create several lesson plans for an after school arts program working with K4-5 grade students.

My time at there internships has provided me with knowledge on how to effectively create in depth lesson plans and implement them in an online and in-person teaching setting. My supervisors set excellent examples for how to communicate with students and how to effectively teach unique lesson plans while also testing my abilities to be flexible to ongoing changes that were made in educational settings during the pandemic.

WPCA Field Experience

During Spring 2020, I worked at Walker's Point Center for the Arts for my field experience that semester as an Art Education intern. While my roll there was cut short due to the pandemic, I did learn some valuable skills that have helped me further my art education career.

Classes were taught in person and students' grade levels ranged from elementary to high school. I was able to get a well rounded introduction to how to interact and make connections with students of all ages. My peers and supervisors have taught me numerous things as well. They modeled for me how to act as a leader in the classroom and how to support student learning in a group setting and individually. I have used and implemented this knowledge to help further my learning and teaching experiences.

I.D.E.A.L. School

During Spring 2021, I worked and collaborated with two of my peers to create an eight-week long lesson plan for a group of middle school students. This lesson plan focused on identity and mythology and allowed for students to express themselves and who they are through various media. Lessons were taught once a week in a virtual setting.

Private Tutor

As part of my field experience, I tutored one fifth grade student virtually in math. I worked one-on-one with my student for several weeks and was able to give them individualized instruction. I was also able to set and meet learning goals for the time being, while also analyzing student progress and making adjustments as needed.
